About Joachim

Who I am
I'm Joachim Agou, and I'm a dad. Born in Nice, France, I studied mechanical engineering at Florida Institute of Technology and came to Canada in 2011 for graduate research in combustion engineering at Université Laval in Quebec City. My career took me through gas turbines in Montreal, industrial testing in Ottawa and the space industry in Brampton. In January 2023 I settled in Fairfield, in Victoria–Beacon Hill, to raise my family, and I became a Canadian citizen that year.
Work
I'm a professional engineer with more than 15 years of experience in aerospace, defence, energy and space. I lead engineering teams and deliver multimillion-dollar projects on budget and on schedule. Today I support the navy as a defence contractor.

Why I am running
I have lived in Fairfield since 2023. I hear the same problems from many neighbours: street disorder, rent and home prices, and long waits for a family doctor. As an engineer, I measure a problem, set a target, and report the result. I want the province to do the same for Victoria. I would bring this riding's numbers to the Legislature.
How I work
- Start with what's really happening. Talk to the people affected and look at the real data before deciding anything.
- Set a clear target and a date. Say what should change, by how much and by when.
- Report back in public. Publish the results every quarter, good or bad, so you can check them yourself.
- Fix what isn't working, or end it. If something doesn't deliver, change course instead of defending it.
