What ID to bring

You need to prove who you are and where you live. Bring one of these:

  • a BC driver's licence
  • a BC Identification Card (BCID)
  • a BC Services Card with photo
  • another B.C. or Canada government card with your name, photo and address
  • a Certificate of Indian Status

Or bring two documents with your name, at least one with your current address. For example: your Where to Vote card, a utility bill, a bank statement, a residential lease, a student card or a passport. Electronic documents, such as e-bills, are accepted.

No ID? Someone can vouch for you: a registered voter who lives in Victoria–Beacon Hill, or your spouse, parent, grandparent, adult child, adult grandchild or adult sibling. They must show their own ID.

You don't need your Where to Vote card to vote. Bringing it speeds things up.

Help when you vote

  • All advance voting places are accessible to people using mobility devices. If you can't get into a voting place, you can vote outside, at the curb or in the parking lot.
  • Ask an election official for help marking your ballot, or bring a friend or family member to help.
  • Every district electoral office, including the one on Johnson Street, has an Accessible Voting System, so voters with sight loss or another disability can vote on their own.
  • All voting places have the list of candidates in Braille, Braille ballot templates and large-print ballot posters.
  • You can bring an interpreter or translator, including for sign language.
  • Assisted telephone voting is available if you meet the criteria, for example sight loss or a health condition that stops you from voting another way. Call 1-800-661-8683.
